-There were a few shreds of car-nope, but awesome cars abounded nonetheless. I wish the camera would have spent more time with them.
-Two weeks ago I went to a writing conference and listened to a lecture by NYT bestseller/Hollywood screenwriter and greenlighter David Farland, who talked about how the most successful movies are always
transportive
- they take you to another time and place. Uncle took me straight to 1963 Europe and convinced me that I need to live there.
-It wasn’t perfect. I was disappointed with the pacing. I expected the frantic, kinetic drive of Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes movies, but didn’t get it. The film came off with just a bit too much breathing room for my taste. I get why they did this, though. It’s based on a TV show you only remember if you’re nearing retirement. Denzel Washington’s The Equalizer was the same way.
-But see it. It’s a ton of fun, there’s some awesome driving action, and it was cool to see the actors out of their normal elements.
